Nelson’s Ship In a Bottle by Yinka Shonibare

The latest work to occupy Trafalgar Square’s fourth plinth is the first to directly reference the battle that this location commemorates as well as being the first by a black artist. Yinka Shonibare’s ship in a bottle is a replica of Nelson’s HMS Victory and is an amazing feat of design and engineering, sitting inside a 2.8 metre diameter bottle made from a specially reinforced polymer.

Kim Simonsson - Ghost

Now in its seventh year, the Craft Council’s Collect exhibition has done a commendable job of raising the profile of craft in the UK through the intelligent sourcing of innovative works and a programme of events and talks from industry leader in the crafts and design fields. For the second year the show took place in the Saatchi Gallery and presented work from more than 400 artists and makers.
