I am an Edinburgh-based journalist, editor and copywriter specialising in architecture and design. I am the former Design Editor of biannual men's lifestyle magazine PORT and a contributor to leading print and online publications, including CNN Style, Wallpaper, Dezeen, Architonic, Dwell and Interior Design. My output includes events and news reportage, feature writing, trends analysis and the production of promotional material for major brands.
I am the author of 21st Century Lighting Design, a book published by Bloomsbury in 2014 that offers an insight into the evolution of lighting products since the turn of the century. The book features 100 examples of products and installations selected by me to provide an overview of general trends within the industry across the categories of form, materials and technology. The foreword was provided by renowned lighting designer, Ingo Maurer.
I have co-curated two exhibitions during the London Design Festival. The Living Room in 2011 was a celebration of independent British design that combined furniture and products in a familiar domestic setting. The Drawing Room in 2012 was a showcase of work by local illustrators, whom we commissioned to create original artworks based on a three-dimensional object with personal significance to them.
I also work with companies including Unilever, Laufen, Plank and Sekford, providing copywriting for press releases and helping them to tell exciting stories about their brand. One example is the film I produced for Laufen about its installation at the 2015 London Design Festival.
